'The Sibton-LFBU-73' 73" Cast Iron Double Slipper Clawfoot Tub with LIVING FINISH Brass Exterior and Drain
The double slipper clawfoot tub has been around for almost a century and 'Living Finish' exteriors are the latest step in the evolution of these beautifully shaped bathtubs. While the double slipper can appear large, the actual leg room is not as substantial as may be expected. However, these tubs do offer a truly romantic shape of bygone days and are excellent tubs in which to really lie back and relax.
This is our 'Sibton-73' 73" long version with a 'Living Finish' exterior in soft brass, it is gorgeous.
While we do remark on the slightly restricted leg room, two people around 5'6' to 5'8" of regular build can enjoy shared bathing in this tub.
Photos herein will give you an indication of how the brass might age.
Adapting specialized metal bonding technology, Penhaglion prepares and coats the tub exterior surfaces in the material of choice before presenting it in a light random brushed finish, ready to patinate. What form the patina takes depends solely on the environment inside the room, but whatever occurs, it is certain to be beautiful, unique and totally natural.
Unless a buyer prefers to retain the original or specific appearance on the metal, there is absolutely no maintenance required to allow these tub exteriors to flourish. Should only minimal exterior patination be an owners preference, the surface can be coated with natural beeswax to slow or prevent further patina formation.
These natural color and surface changes can vary in time from slow to quite fast. Most often however, the effects of the oxidization or tarnishing are not visually noticeable on a day to day basis. However, while nothing may be apparent to the naked eye, the patina will be developing. Should some individual markings not be to an owners liking, it is a small task to remove these and allow the finish to resurface.
