'The Monaco' 60" Cast Iron Petite Bateau Tub with Mirror Polished Zinc Exterior and Drain (polished zinc looks like silver but does not tarnish like silver)

Tub Description

The Petit Bateau (little boat) tub is a re-designed version of another, much older tub produced in France at the turn of the 19th century. Instead of maintaining the same traditional broad lines, our design team produced a more modern elegant, wider step rounded base and narrower roll top lip. This presents a very elegant variation and softer form of the original tub.
At only 60’ long, this beautiful little tub offers a well proportioned bathing space. It is very elegantly styled and it offers a good depth to the overflow to cover most of the body. While it remains relatively spacious, this 60” Petit Bateau bathtub is only recommended for one medium sized bather

Tub Finishing
This is our fabulous Mirror Polished Zinc finish. The cast iron tub is left in its original form as it exits the mold and cleaned of any excess iron scale. We then finish the inside of the tub with thick, bright white enamel before completing the exterior.
With the Monaco, we aim at a tub with a smoother finish exterior with few, if any, visible cast marks. To this extent, we finish the exterior of the tub as smoothly as we can before bonding and coating with the molten zinc.
Since cast iron is totally porous by nature, some tiny areas of porosity will be seen throughout the surface of the tub, but in different lights and viewed from different angles, these will be almost invisible. These tiny zinc coated dots also add enormous character to the finish, ensuring that no two tubs are identical. The polished zinc is not hugely reactive in passive settings and will only darken slightly in appearance throughout many years in a bathroom. For exterior care, very little is required, a wipe with a soft, damp soapy cloth. For more stubborn stains, a soft cloth with some Mothers polish will remove these easily.
