'The Paris-73-VC' 73" Cast Iron French Bateau Tub with PURE METAL Verdigris Copper Exterior and Drain

Our inspiration for this beautiful French Bateau (Boat) style bathtub emanated from the original design by Rogeat and a few other European makers from around the 1880’s. Our version is wider and deeper and we produce this tub in two different sizes.
The French Bateau tub has a long bathing floor and ample width with exceptional depth to overflow.
This 73” version French Bateau is well sized for larger, taller bathers and also presents the opportunity to be enjoyed by two bathers.
This tub has a pure copper coated exterior which is aged, a thick cast iron center and a high gloss, high grade enameled interior. To protect the exterior and seal in the beauty, we apply four coats of high grade clear lacquer.
The copper is applied to the tub exterior as it exits the mold portraying natural, interesting and unique mold markings which truly enhance the beauty of the tub.

How the Verdigris Finish is Created

We use pure copper for the exterior on the Verdigris Collection. The iron cast tub is left in its original format as it exits the mold and cleaned of excess iron scale.
We first apply the thick high gloss enamel interior before finishing the exterior. Onto the raw iron exterior, we apply twelve layers of molten copper. After the copper coating, we agitate the surface and apply specially developed patina accelerators to emulate the environmental effects of twenty years of aging on a copper surface.
The Verdigris copper presents a kaleidoscope of colors with copper and Verdigris hues, each being totally unique. To achieve the best natural results, we allow the tub to stand for seven days and nights before finishing.
Since the Verdigris finish is quite soft and susceptible to removal if scratched, we coat the finish with four layers of high-grade clear lacquer. This coating not only protects the surface but it highlights the vibrancy of the created patina.
Maintaining the exterior is very simple, any marks will wipe off easily with a soft cloth and soapy water. We understand that many purchasers will wish their tub to be exactly as per the photo, but this is not possible. However, we do try to accommodate a clients preferences for finished patina where we can.
