'The Fontenay-PC-67' 67" Cast Iron Chariot Clawfoot Tub with PURE METAL Polished Copper Exterior and Drain

The 'Fontenay-PC-67' is a fabulous 67" long Chariot 'Pure-Metal' polished copper exterior clawfoot bathtub with a bright white enameled interior. To create the 'Pure-Metal' finish, we apply several layers of metal, one upon the other, onto the exterior cast iron surface. We then enhance by hand burnishing and polishing to present a stunning, deep lustrous mirror like finish while still retaining the unique, original casting marks. These marks are the small pin holes, occasional surface bumps and shallow crack lines that form on every cast iron tub as it expands and contracts from bright orange molten metal origins to solid iron. Every extraordinarily beautiful 'Pure-Metal' tub is truly unique.

‘Pure-Metal’ finishes are achieved by applying many thin layers of actual metal to the exterior of the tub. The metal bonds completely to the exterior tub surface and to each other. By applying several very thin metal layers, Penhaglion is able to preserve the unique markings the tub has when it comes out of its’ mold. The results are simply stunning and the mold marks contribute enormously to the individual, original character of each bathtub.

The surfaces can be left unprotected or waxed. If left unprotected, the copper, brass and bronze exteriors may begin to age and patina quite quickly as they start life in your beautiful bathroom. If waxed, the aging process will be very gradual and sometimes almost imperceptible form day to day. Finishes like polished nickel, pewter, stainless steel will darken only slightly over the years, but will not patina like copper or brass. To maintain the bright mirror unwaxed finish, a simple light wipe with a soft cloth and a little polish will bring your tub up like new.
