'The Alexander' Cast Iron French Bateau Clawfoot Tub with Artist Applied Antiqued Copper Leafing Exterior and Drain

Product Details
On 'The Alexander' French Bateau clawfoot tub, before leafing, we apply primer and a copper paint as our leafing base. We allow this to sit for two to three days in natural atmospheric conditions before preparing the tub for our leafing specialist to hand apply the solid copper leaf. Again we allow the tub to sit for a further two to three days while the copper slowly begins its' natural aging process. Over the next few days, we gradually introduce new layers of special solutions to expedite the weathering process. After this, it's back to the natural external forces for a further few days. Using a special neutralizing solution, we wash the entire tub exterior before coating with four heavy layers of high grade clear lacquer. The lacquer not only protects and seals the surface, it almost illuminates the gorgeous colors and hues of the tub exterior.

Finishing
To protect the exterior surface, four layers of high grade clear lacquer is applied to the finish. None of the patina will stain floors or clothing and exterior cleaning is made very simple by using just a soft cloth. The interior of the tub is hand applied bright white high gloss enamel and for cleaning, we recommend mild solutions like Simple Green, please don't use anything aggressive or with scouring agents.
