'The Tintagel' 68" Cast Iron French Bateau Tub with Antiqued Faux Silver Leaf Exterior and Drain

We tried something completely different with the Tintagel French Bateau tub. We wanted something that would fit into the most modern loft, yet also work in a French country setting (with a little less aging of course). After our usual exterior shell preparations, we gave the Tintagel a sliver color base. We then apply our faux silver leaf. When this was completed, we sealed the entire exterior before adding our aging solutions. We tried to make it look like it had collected a little wear and tear over the ages. We can of course trim or exaggerate the antiquing to suit a clients needs. While perhaps not for everyone, we think the Tintagel is an absolutely stunning, individual and exclusive presentation, it will be a major focus in any home.
Finishing
The exterior of the tub is a steel surface which has been cleaned and smoothed after forming and had an epoxy primer applied. The tub was then painted with a sliver metal finish. After allowing for total drying, we applied faux silver leaf and sealed it before antiquing. The surface is further protected by three coats of high grade clear lacquer. The surface is very simple to maintain and clean, just a simple wipe with a dry cloth. As with all Penhaglion tubs, the interior of the tub is hand applied enamel. As a result, slight undulations will appear on the surface and this will add to the individual character of every Penhaglion Hand Finished bathtub.
